Pastel Flowers

Attempt at pastels - had to use water to blend and colored pencil to outline a bit. In a card format it looks much better. Thanks for the experience Lindsay. and hope you have a very Happy Birthday today!!!!

Love to Live

Although, many African people are poor, they seem to love their life.
The theme is from one of my favorites post cards.

The original colors orange, yellow and purple in contrast to the black look more intensive on my painting (than on the photo I have taken from the painting).
You should come and see how well it matches to our brown wall in the family room.

Help Me Title This Art

I've never been good at naming my art. Usually I can't get too creative with the title because my art can be somewhat abstract. (Those are boats by the way!) "Boat traffic" just doesn't seem to give the zing I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

something different

I'm not a big fan of abstracts. I like to be able to get lost in a painting and imagine myself there. That's harder to do with abstracts. However, we needed a painting for our new space in the basement. Amr likes VERY modern, very geometric, very formulaic. I couldn't be more opposite. But I gave it a try and had so much fun painting this one. I'm positive that this actually won't end up in our new space because it's again too loose for Amr's style BUT I am still happy with it no matter where its final home shall be. Shelly - I was thinking of you when I was painting this!

an update to an ol' fave

I've been needing to do a new Cat Nap for the gallery for awhile. I always prefer doing new paintings over re-runs but this gave me an opportunity to try being more loose with my style. I liked how it turned out so much that I was thinking of keeping it but turns out Amr is very NOT into the looser style. So it's off to the gallery. We have NO wall space to display it at home anyway.
